Double Page spread 1 - analysis

Also for my research on pop music magazines I had to analysis a double page spread which you would find inside a pop magazine. I found this one of two of a very famous boy band interview. The magazine which this is from is “top of the pops” this magazine has not gone along with the same house style as they used on the front and gone for not as famine colours such ass greens, blues and greys. As you can see the double page spread is seen as one page which connects together but you can also look at it as two pages as well. I think the way this is set out is a good idea because if the target audience don’t like all the band members they can clearly see which part is about there favourite and can pick and read that bit other than having to read the whole article. These articles do not have a main title telling the reader what it is going to be about and just have the names of the celebrity’s at the top of the page showing which part of the article will be about that typical celebrity. The font in which they have used for the names is very swirly and is a serif font which gives the effect of it hand written, this links in with the article because it’s like the celebrity writing down the answers and gives it more of a personal effect on the reader.

The article is set out into columns separating the sections making the article easier to understand and more readable with the image of the celebrity who is talking next to it. I believe that the target audience for this is still girls because of which celebrity’s they have used the “hottest new boy band” which girls will love and want to learn more about. Although they have not used a very girly house style they have I used images that are large and clear that the girls would like to look. The images that have been took are medium- close up’s while the pop stars “Harry and Zayn” and looking straight through the camera lens giving eye contact with the reader giving off the effective of them looking at them.

The beginning of the interview starts at the top left side under the first mast head they have used a white font colour on a dark coloured background by using these colours it makes the writing stand out more and look brighter. The magazine have used a bold large font making the writing less therefore keeping the reader engaged so it looks a lot of writing but really it’s only a small part of information. Throughout the article top of the pops have used words such as “exclusive” and “new” as the reader will be more interested when they see these words and thinking they are finding parts put about the celebrity’s personal life that the public are just starting to find out.
